This group met several times over the summer of 2009 to look at economic and demographic criteria that could be objectively tracked to determine economic impact for the northern Maine economy. The time horizon was established as a five year period to 2014 and the different criteria were decided upon based on information that was available and regularly updated. Data sources for this criteria are outlined in a separate document “MNM Data Sources” listed elsewhere on this site.After much positive discussion, goals were established in the following areas:

Employable Population (16 and older)
Labor Participation Rate
Total Employed
Average Wage
Total Regional Wage
Per Capita Income
Internet Subscriptions
Bachelor Degrees (25 years and older)
GDP
Percentage of Private Payers in Healthcare System
Associate Degrees in Region
